This is one of the many tributes to Henry de Montherlant that I think of as my spiritual grandfather.

The first two lines of the lyrics are taken from his book Tous feux éteints published in 1975, three years after his death.

This track was born in a 30-minute session on January 2, 2020. I was staying at my friend Nico's place at the time. That's the 17th and last track I did using the same setup and sounds. I'll use much of that material in future releases probably.

After that I worked on it in April and May while in Bristol. I was living with my man Barnaby Carter for some weeks. As he was working on his second album I naturally got influenced by his sound. We can notice that from the huge use of reverb contributing to the space of the track.

Barnaby works as a piano technician. He got that piano soundboard with cast iron plate on the ground. I spent some days playing and recording myself hitting the strings with two hammers on my hands. I added some parts of that on the track.
