Andalucia (2020 Festival Rework)

about

This is the life that took that e-piano loop I recorded in December 2016 at my friend's house in Rodalquilar, Spain.

A first chill version was finished and published in the Summer of 2017.

At the end of 2018, a good friend listened to it and said that the piano loop was too present and so the track could be even better by adding some variations that would remove the piano loop for some moments.

So I got back working on it, and one day dropped that upright bass loop in. I thought "damn, that's pretty good! I can see people dancing with a smile. Let's do a festival version or something."

I think it could really be a hit in Ibiza and in the Summer’s festival this year. Let’s see what happens.

The trumpet parts, bringing so much emotion, were recorded with Théophile Blanchon in Geneva in 2015 I think, though he was playing over some other music.

I love these magic moments when different sounds are brought together and it seems like they were made to merge in a single piece of music.

The outro and those vocal bits we can hear in the song are taken from a song of "Le Chant des Femmes Bulgares", a CD I found at the library in Geneva. I think there’s a hit to be made out of that Bulgarian song. Though I didn’t want to mess with it for now and just share with my audience the original piece.

We can also hear some field recordings I did in a teashop in Granada, Spain, a day or two before recording the piano loop.

Since then I stayed two other times in the valley of Rodalquilar, which always inspired me to make great music.

I’m planning to live there in the future at least for some months, maybe a full year, and just make music and walk and swim in the crystal clear water.

Andalucía, gracias por la inspiración. Volveré pronto y haremos el amor otra vez.

Bathed in cozy atmospheres that are like caresses to the ears, his simple and refined lyrics express an honest desire for lust, the playfulness of the eternal child, and sometimes a sprinkle of stoicism. ... more
